Jeep Parade of Lights
December 19 @ 4:30 pm - 9:30 pm CST
For those that weren’t able to make it to the last monthly meeting, the club has decided that instead of going through Santa’s Magical Kingdom as a group, we will be doing a Christmas Parade of Lights. It will be set up similar to our Jeep Celebration parade we had in May. We will have a shorter path however, because of our time limitations.
We are also working again with One Heart Family Ministries to adopt families in need. They have a program in which families request “Christmas Blessings”, typically $25/30 a child. This year they have 80+ families that have asked to participate in the program. Similar to last year, I hope we far exceed the families expectations. We have requested four families that we can deliver toys to, and give grocery gift cards to their parents. The head of the organization is currently going through the list and deciding which of the families are the most in need of our blessings. Once our families are chosen, Amberly and I will map out a path for the parade, which will take the Parade of Lights directly to the families for deliveries.
We will be taking up cash donations for the families which will be used to purchase toys and gift cards at the next two monthly meetings, and are trying to figure out the best format to take up digital collections. At our last monthly meeting, we took up an initial collection and got off to an amazing start with $640. After we have specific families picked, we will also do an Amazon gift registry again. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to make this extremely successful, if every paid member gave just $10, we would have almost $6000.
Hopefully we get an awesome turnout for this event, and get to spread a lot of cheer around our city. If anyone needs help with decorating their Jeep, I have a few ideas.
