MWJT Fall Colors Run
October 23, 2021 @ 8:30 am - 5:00 pm CDT

The 2021 MWJT BOD is excited to bring you a fall Jeep day out for everyone! We’ve connected with club leaders at Jeep’N Shawnee to bring you an incredible day journey through the beautiful Shawnee National Forest area in late October.
The exact route won’t be determined until closer to the date (and will largely be determined based on the number of Jeeps involved). We will start out in Chester, IL along the Mississippi River Front on Water St. From there, you can expect a mild day drive through the Shawnee National Forest area on mostly dirt and gravel roads. The route will likely hit along Snake Road (Snake Road is the only road in the world closed every year (from March 15-May 15, and again from September 1-October 30) for its biannual migration of snakes and other reptiles. How cool!) run along the top of the river bluff, through the Trail of Tears State Park, run by the Kincade Spillway, and will end at Bald Knob Cross.
The entire group will stop for lunch at The Duck Inn Bar and Grill – A favorite to locals and travelers, this friendly little bar & grill lets you Duck Inn and Waddle Out. A delicious lunch special will be available for our group. This stop will also provide a bathroom stop and social time.
Jeep’N Shawnee is graciously providing guides and routing for this run. This group has been an absolute pleasure to work with from the moment we reached out to them and we can’t wait to meet-up with them for this day trip! The Jeep family is one-of-a-kind and we extend a big thank you to the leaders at Jeep’N Shawnee and the volunteers they have for this run!
COMMS:
We recommend FRS communications amongst the group for this run. We have been told there is no cellular service in the forest. The national forest service will be aware of our presence and Jeep’N Shawnee leaders will be running their own communications as well as chase lights on their vehicles so you can identify lead vehicles.
